Provides a defensive shield for you and your friends

__TOC__

Description
Security blanket provides a large group oriented protective aura. The major advantage to this ritual is that the gp cost remains constant no matter how many group members are present, so a full group of six can be protected with the one blanket. Additionally, the security blanket appears to stack with the effects of major shield, much in the way holy aegis does, which means the caster is protected as well as the caster's group mates. It also appears to stack with holy aegis, so this could form a part of a three-layer defence for a Gufnork priest.

Security blanket is quick to perform, requires only a holy symbol and does not require a huge bonus in faith.rituals.defensive.area, but the high gp cost will limit its utility except in very tough fights or situations where the priest is in a group support role.

The ritual also gives a warning when it is weakening, much in the way major shield does.

While security blanket may only have relatively specialised uses, it allows Gufnork priests to have a greater support role in a group environment and it is probably the most useful combat application of the "faith.rituals.defensive.area" skill. Depending on what research shows, it may also be worthwhile as an added boost to shields in addition to major shield and holy aegis.

Finally, there appears to be a maximum limit on how long the shield can last, as the security blanket never seems to register as higher than "less than five minutes" of remaining time when checked with the "shields command. Whether this is a deliberate constraint or a bug is unclear, but it does prevent the blanket from being sustained from very long.

Help File
<!-- If something in this "Help File" section needs changing, please also submit an in-game typo-rep, as this section should mirror the MUD's help file -->
Security Blanket will place a protective aura around you which extends to anyone in your group who is in the same room as you. You'll need a holy symbol consecrated to your god to perform Security Blanket.
{{Prebox|You speak a short prayer.

Titles are used when someone uses the ‘who’ command in one of its forms, or using ‘refer laotzu’. They will appear after your name followed by the name of your god. For example: LaoTzu The Taoist the Prelate of Hat

Also available are pre-titles which go in front of your name. Besides the generic titles, available to players, every guild has its own special set of titles. As you advance in the guild, your religious instructor will provide you with special titles, such as "Brother", "Reverend" and "Holy". Ministers and High Priests also find that their positions are available as pre titles.

Your title will also be followed by other information, including a title of your choosing, a quest name and any other positions you may hold, e.g.

You are Minister LaoTzu The Taoist the Prelate of Hat, Enlightened, the leader of the-Way, Secretary to the High Priest of Hat, Coffee Bean.
:These are the titles available to me from the guildtitle command. Some definitely look very Sekkite in nature, there's quite a few new ones, and I've already seen players of other deities with titles not on this list.

Gufnork, God of Fluff and His priests enjoy an insulated life spent in meditation upon the softer aspects of life. Usually stereotyped as intellectuals with little care for worldly matters, followers of Gufnork have developed a reputation for standoffishness. Worshippers of Him often seek to improve the lives of others, so that more people will have the leisure and inclination to contemplate the glory of Gufnork.

Gufnork's most important commandment is: Take My fluff throughout the world, and wherever the fluff be lacking, there spread My fluff thickest so that all may experience My fluff and sleep more comfortably upon it.

Gufnork's fluff cushions against the dangers of the world, making his priests the masters of defensive rituals. Gufnork's protection allows them to be potentially somewhat more combat-oriented than most other priests.

He only wants worshippers who are between quite good and neutral. His ideal alignment is at the beginning of the "quite good" range--6 to 7 degrees good.

He grants Cure Light Wounds and Summon Fluff to followers.
Shelters a target from harm.

__TOC__

Description
Holy Aegis protects the recipient of the ritual with a translucent goat skin that functions similarly to a major shield. The ritual uses the skills faith.rituals.defensive.self (when targeted at oneself) or faith.rituals.defensive.target (when targeted at someone else). It is a relatively difficult ritual to perform reliably, and will still not be completely reliable at a bonus of 325. This ritual is one of Gufnorkian priests' biggest advantages, as it gives them the potential to eliminate much more damage from enemies' base attacks than other priests.

The major advantage of this ritual is that when performed on someone under the effects of a major shield, the damage absorption effect will stack with the major shield. The damage messages received will not reflect this, and will still give the message "your layer of fluff absorbs all of the blow" (for example), but the amount of damage absorbed will be noticeably increased. Holy aegis appears to be slightly, but not dramatically, better than major shield when dealing with special attacks. Unfortunately it does not plug this hole in a priest's defences.

It is not yet confirmed, but it seems that this ritual also stacks with security blanket, for a potential three-layered defence combined with major shield. Also unconfirmed is the fact that the duration of the ritual stacks with subsequent castings, though superficial research seems to support the theory that it does.

Though the gp cost is only 2/3rds of major shield, holy aegis lasts for a considerably shorter duration, and does not give a warning when it is running out of time, like minor shield, major shield and security blanket do. This means that the ritual is better used as a temporary boost to the major shield, rather than a permanent accompaniment to it.
Aegis places your target under the protection of your god, reducing any damage they incur based on your skills. You need a prayer book and a holy symbol consecrated to your god to perform this ritual.
> perform holy aegis on me
You kneel in prayer.
You close your eyes and think of higher things.
You chant the psalm of sheltering.
Your hands begin to glow with a soft light.
The glow spreads down your arms from your hands and seems to sink into your body.

__TOC__

Description
Summons a small ball of coloured, consecrated fluff that can be used for a variety of purposes. While this is generally regarded as a toy ritual, the fact that the fluff is automatically consecrated can make it useful for a few purposes. Firstly, it can be useful when needing to remember a place, if you don’t have a spare consecrated item. Secondly, it is useful when idlechasing, as the ability to summon consecrated items allows the priest to perform divine guard on the fluff immediately and bestow a ritual onto it, without having to be at the high altar. Thirdly, fluff is needed in order to summon Gufnork's totem, a dust bunny.

There appears to be a very large variety of different "flavours" of fluff that can be summoned, which helps with parser disambiguation should you wish to use them to remember place.

Fluff ("fluffs" or "fluves" in plural) comes in a variety of sizes, with higher skills resulting in a larger ball of fluff. In increasing order, sizes are:
*tiny (1/9 lb)
*small (2/9 lb)
*sizeable (3/9 lb)
*large (4/9 lb)
*huge (5/9 lb)

Eatting a ball of fluff results in it going down a size. Fluves larger than tiny can be cut into a varying number of pieces depending on the size; huge balls can be cut into five pieces, large balls can be cut into four pieces, and so on. (Cutting fluff results in "fifths" or "thirds" or whatever fraction is appropriate, rather than just smaller balls.)

Fluff that has been cut into pieces or partially eaten will retain a remembered place. If it has been cut into pieces, each piece will be remembering the same place.

While security blanket may only have relatively specialised uses, it allows Gufnork priests to have a greater support role than probably any other priest in a group environment (with the arguable exception of Pishites), and it is probably the most useful application of the "faith.rituals.defensive.area" skill. Depending on what research shows, it may also be worthwhile as an added boost to shields in addition to major shield and holy aegis. Finally, it is possibly the most useful ritual for "bestow"ing when idlechasing, at least for Gufnorkians, because of its high gp cost and lack of danger when scouring.

In practise, Gufnork's priests are renowned as the masters of defensive rituals, making them potentially somewhat more combat-oriented than most other priests.
