Titles are used when someone uses the ‘who’ command in one of its forms, or using ‘refer laotzu’. They will appear after your name followed by the name of your god. For example: LaoTzu The Taoist the Prelate of Hat

Also available are pre-titles which go in front of your name. Besides the generic titles, available to players, every guild has its own special set of titles. As you advance in the guild, your religious instructor will provide you with special titles, such as "Brother", "Reverend" and "Holy". Ministers and High Priests also find that their positions are available as pre titles.

Your title will also be followed by other information, including a title of your choosing, a quest name and any other positions you may hold, e.g.

You are Minister LaoTzu The Taoist the Prelate of Hat, Enlightened, the leader of the-Way, Secretary to the High Priest of Hat, Coffee Bean.
New post-titles
On February 12, 2010, we got some new titles. Some of these depend on skills as well as guild level and some appear to be deity-specific.

From cinnamon's post on the Priests board:

:These are the titles available to me from the guildtitle command. Some definitely look very Sekkite in nature, there's quite a few new ones, and I've already seen players of other deities with titles not on this list.
Title vs. Level tables
When adding new titles, or new levels, be aware that "score" takes some time to show your actual guild level after you've advanced, lagging behind your title. You may need to wait a minute or two for it to update.
One of the possible special additions is "of the Sandelfonic Templars", which replaces "of Sandelfon". It has been sighted at guild levels as low as 350.

Another special addition is "of the Sandelfonic Inquisition", which replaces "of Sandelfon". It has been sighted at guild levels as low as 350. It appears to have something to do with covert.manipulation.stealing, as it was gotten after advancing that skill.

Additionally, the "Heretic" title previously associated with excommunicated priests has been replaced with "defrocked
" at guild level 350. At guild level 420, this changed to "scorned
".

The "Divine" title cannot be used by excommunicated priests, instead they are given the title "Impure", but also without a special addition; the "scorned" prefix disappears, though it is present with all other titles.

Titles previously replaced by "Heretic" are now shown, accompanied by the "scorned" prefix.

Provides a powerful defensive shield

__TOC__

Description
Probably the most used ritual by priests. This ritual covers the target in a protective layer of shielding which soaks up damage. It is effectively a complete covering of armour which weighs nothing. Unfortunately it is not very good against specials, but can soak up a large amount of base round damage at high bonuses. It can also be extended by "stacking". For example casting the ritual once leads to a 2 minute duration, casting it 4 times in a row stacks it to an 8 minute duration. The duration of a major shield after a single perform seems to be equal to you bonus, in seconds. (360 bonus -> 6 minutes). It can be extended with minor shield, however this will weaken the major shield and is not recommended. It's better to use the stacking method as mentioned.

You need a shield to perform the ritual. The origami paper shield at 1/9lb is currently the lightest, but there is a penalty from using it in that your major shield will be harder to perform, weaker in strength and shorter in duration. A mounted pewter shield is the next lightest and does not have the same penalty. A "proper" shield, although heavier in weight (about 4lb for the lightest) confers a significant ritual bonus, making the ritual easier, stronger and longer lasting.
Other than the effects mentioned here, the type of shield has no effect whatsoever on the ritual.

Each deity has a different appearance of major shield, coming in at least 2 types depending on the strength.
* Pishe: Blanket of fog
* Gufnork: Layer of fluff
* Gapp: Translucent cloth robe
* Sandelfon: Wall of dust, Ethereal wall
* Fish: Slimy seaweed cloak
* Hat: Translucent feather
* Sek: Crackling flames, Bright crimson flames

If you have a magical impact shield, that will always absorb hits first, with the major shield only having any effect after it has been destroyed.
Major Shield will place a protective shield around you that acts as a layer of armour against blows. It provides significantly more protection than the Minor Shield ritual. You'll need a holy symbol consecrated to your god and a shield to perform this ritual.

Example
> perform major shield on me
You speak a short prayer.
You call upon Fish to protect yourself.
You are protected by the power of Fish.
Transforms an item into a being.

__TOC__

Description
This rather new ritual is in fact a very old one (that was removed for a while). When performed upon an item related to your God (party hat for Hat, anything for Fish, stylish clothes for Gapp, fluff for Gufnork, bodyparts for Sek, water for Pishe, rocks for Sandelfon), it transforms the item in a being (also depending on your god). Due to the recent changes to dust devils, this totem (together with spectres) is the only summoned creature that will protect the performer. Totems have horrible offensive skills but when shielded, they may be a useful protection for younger priests. Totems granted are different from God to God. Sandelfon's totem is notable in that it has troll skin.
When performed upon an item of significance to your deity, it will summon a creature that protects you. The exact item and creature vary from god to god. To perform this ritual you will need a holy symbol, and you may only command one totem at a time.

Example
> perform totem on fluff
You chant the psalm of transformation.
You call upon Gufnork to transform a huge ball of orchid fluff.
A dust bunny flashes into being.
__TOC__

Description
This area effective ritual makes everyone in the room lose a sense of direction. Not effective against npcs, only for pk purposes (though the effects are not pk-checked). With enough levels of fa.ri.de (specific sub-skill to be tested), the effects of this ritual may be avoided.

Performing the ritual several times in the same room will cause its duration to stack.
When Lost Highways is performed on an area, the path becomes unclear, and the correct way clouded. To perform this ritual, you need a holy symbol, a block of incense and a prayer book containing the prayer "Strange Travels".

Example
> perform lost highways
You set fire to the incense while chanting the psalm of the lost.
With a whispered prayer, you wave the incense around, creating a rough outline of the room.
You drag your set of sapphire prayer beads through the smoky pattern, blurring it into irrecognisability.
Reality softens like butter on a lobster.
Everything swirls and twists, and you can no longer rightly tell one direction from another anymore.
Causes your target to suffer when they take action.

__TOC__

Description
This ritual causes the target's own actions to have repercussions upon himself. Specifically, if they use their energy, they become physically damaged. Possibly the most difficult ritual to perform, and has a very limited duration. This ritual has been found very useful in the new ward system, placed in an item using either Divine Guard or Divine Sentinel. Due to new changes, the gp-to-damage rate seems to be dependant on the amount of gp used. It may vary from 10hp damage of each gp used, when using a limited amount of gp (30-50), to only 3hp/gp when using lot's of gp (300-more). It also seems to depend on the targets maximum hp. Feedback is never directly deadly: any damage that would reduce the victim under 1 hp leaves the victim at 1 hp instead, and causes him/her/it to faint. Targets may not be damaged by direct physical attack rounds while in this state.

The ritual is much harder to succeed at when you have only one free hand, and even harder if both hands are full. This makes an already difficult ritual even harder for those that have to rely on a faith rod for it.

Help File
This is an offensive ritual which, when performed, causes a target's actions to either damage the target or require a radically different amount of energy to be spent or both. Feedback needs a holy relic, a holy symbol, a holy amulet and a copy of the prayer, "Shackles of the Spirit".

Help File Note
There are ways to encourage the newly contorted flow of energy toward yourself, but having that kind of close tie to someone in agony may have unforseen consequences.

Feedback may backfire and inflict its effects on the priest performing the ritual.

Example
> perform feedback on wodan
You kneel in prayer.
You close your eyes and think of higher things.
You chant a soft orison of vengeance.
You point at Wodan thinking dark and angry thoughts.
A small, snapping spark appears on the tip of your finger and flies straight towards Wodan, disappearing on impact.
A thin nimbus of black sparks springs into existence around Wodan.
Wodan begins to glow with holy light.
Summons a whirlwind to fight on your behalf.

__TOC__

Description
Performing this ritual causes a whirlwind to form, its composition depending on where it is summoned (There are at least 50 different types, ranging from leaves, to cat fur, to metal fragments, to pure faith, to the good old dust devils). After recent changes, the number of devils you can summon has been capped on two. Trying to summon a second dust devil and failing may lead to the first dust devil to slip out of your control and dissolve. Dust devils will join you in combat as they will 'assist', and can also be "order"ed to attack. Doing so will cause you to become involved in the combat as well.

Dust devils reduce the amount of xp you will get from kills, though this may be countered by the ability you will have to kill things tougher and in less time. Dust devils are unable to protect and mediocre at dealing damage, so their use is limited.

It was shown that fa.ri.of.ar and fa.ri.de.ar bear some relevance in the offensive and defensive capabilities of the devils. This research was done some time ago and it is doubted by many that this is still the case.

The progression of the sizes is:
Tiny, small, average, large, huge, gigantic, colossal, enormous, humongous, and unbelievably large.

This ritual summons a dust devil to follow your orders. It will attack if ordered, though not the servants of gods. It will not protect or defend the priest summoning it. A priest can only control two dust devils at a time. Performing this ritual requires use of a holy symbol consecrated to your deity.

Example
> perform dust devil
You find it more difficult to perform dust devil because you are a creator. However, this is mitigated by the fact that
you are a creator.
You raise your hands, and swirl them about.
You speak the holy word of Fish.
You summon a dust devil.
Use "order" to command it.
The wind picks up a bit and starts swirling. Dust and debris in the area come together to form an unbelievably large
whirlwind of leaves.
