Skills, primaries and stats!

The faith system has become even more variable in nature than it previously was, with both strength and success changing between performances. The rate of success doesn’t only depend on your bonus, but also on your alignment, environment, the time since you last prayed, … However, once you get far above the requirements to perform the ritual, any failures will be rare, if at all. Cure medium wounds, for example, will never fail with a cu.se bonus above 300.

There is an advantage to gaining high faith bonuses. Some of the rituals, such as feedback or blight, are quite difficult to perform and higher bonuses will not only give more success, but significantly greater results in terms of effectiveness or duration.

The Faith skill tree

A significant thing about the Priests guild is that it’s the only guild that has ONE and a COMPLETE skill tree as primaries. Other guilds have only part of one or more skill trees as primaries. This used to be a big advantage for us, but nowadays, with the new skill-stat dependencies, this is more a “feature” than an advantage.

Stat-skill dependencies

This represents the relation between a skill and the used stats. Each skill is divided into 5 parts, representing the 5 stats. Then every stat is awarded a number between 0 and 5, representing its share in a certain skill. For example: skill A: 0 con, 1 dex, 3 int, 1 str, 0 wiz means: the bonus of skill A is calculated based your rearrange, using 1/5 dex, 1/5 str and 3/5 int. So, if you want to be good at this skill, you'll need a lot of int and some dex and int.
