Bestows a ritual onto an object to protect it from theft
Contents
Description
This is the new form of minor ward. It allows a Priest to 'bestow' one ritual of their god into an item of value, if this item is stolen or taken from a corpse the ritual is triggered. This is a smaller version of Divine Sentinel allowing only one ritual to be bestowed. Takes a long time to do, and isn't seen as worth using by a lot of people. Useful in the PK society. For more info, read the article of Poyat on this subject.
The ward will not trigger properly if you plant the item on an npc, then steal it from them, or if you put the item on a corpse, then take the item from the corpse. In both of these cases it will just take a small amount of hp (around 100 or less) and cause you to drop the item (though you may pick it back up automatically), leaving the wards in place. You can also trigger a ward sometimes by attempting to scour the wards from an item--it seems to be more likely to trigger if there are more wards on the item.
Help File
Divine Guard stores the power of a single ritual within an object, allowing a priest to protect it from theft. You need a holy symbol to perform this ritual.
After you have performed this ritual on an item, you will need to "bestow" another ritual into it.
Example
> perform divine guard on baton
You speak a short prayer.
> bestow blight on baton
